Very rarely seen intact, Ever Ready advertised the Challenge Outfit in 1927 newspapers. Ostensibly, you were buying ten blades, and Ever Ready was throwing in the razor and two additional blades for free, so that you might try it out without opening the ten pack of blades. If the shaves were not "100% satisfactory," you could return the ten blades unopened for a complete refund.

The Shovelhead is a funny razor: the cap is hinged in the front rather than the back, so it opens opposite from other single edge razors. And that cap does bear a resemblance to the business end of a shovel. Many find it fearsomely aggressive, while others love it. This one is appears to be unused, though the two "free" blades are missing. The "PAT APP'D FOR" stamp indicates that it's an early example.

As you can see in the photos, the box is deteriorating a bit, but all the packaging is there, and the instruction sheet is in great shape.
